The BC Wildfire Service – Fire Services Program is pleased to announce the launch of the new SPP-S231 Engine Boss (ENGB) – Awareness online course. Designed to support Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) operations and structure defence, this self-paced course provides foundational knowledge related to Engine Boss responsibilities, command structure, tactics, situational awareness, and operational integration within the WUI environment.
The course is open to all fire service personnel, as well as those supporting fire department operations. While it serves as a prerequisite for the SPP-S231 Engine Boss Operations course, it is also intended to support broader awareness, operational integration, and understanding for anyone working in or alongside WUI incidents.
We encourage departments and agencies to share this opportunity widely with personnel who may benefit from increased knowledge and understanding of engine-based structure defence operations.
